SRE is seeking a CPPA Director to lead the origination, structuring and execution of corporate power purchase agreements (“CPPAs”) across SRE's project portfolio. This is a cross-portfolio, senior commercial role sitting within the Investments Department, working closely with project teams, legal counsel, financial advisors and offtake counterparties across Asia.
Scope Description:
As a member of the SRE Investments team, your role will encompass the following:
- Lead CPPA strategy and origination: develop and execute SRE's CPPA framework across markets in APAC, with an initial focus on Taiwan, including identifying creditworthy corporate offtakers and structuring of bankable offtake arrangements.
- Negotiate and execute CPPA agreements: lead commercial negotiations with corporate buyers, including pricing, volume, tenor, indexation, balancing, and termination provisions, in coordination with legal advisors.
- Stakeholder and relationship management: build and maintain relationships with corporate energy buyers, energy brokers, regulatory bodies and industry associations across target markets.
- Drive project finance bankability: structure CPPAs to satisfy lender requirements, work with project finance teams to align offtake terms with debt service coverage and ECA requirements.
- Market and regulatory analysis: monitor CPPA market developments, regulatory frameworks and grid code requirements across Asia-Pacific jurisdictions and advise project teams on implications for offtake structuring.
- Investment governance: prepare CPPA-related investment papers, Board presentations and commercial summaries for senior management and shareholders.
- Any other duties as required in line with the scope of the role.
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience in energy offtake, power trading, project finance or renewable energy development; direct CPPA structuring and negotiation experience required.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Law, Engineering or related discipline; MBA, LLM or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.
- Deep understanding of CPPA structures (physical and synthetic/financial), market design, grid regulation and offtake risk management in Taiwan.
- Demonstrated ability to lead commercial negotiations and manage multi-party transaction processes to financial close.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills; ability to represent SRE at senior levels with corporates, lenders and regulators.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills; ability to evaluate CPPA economics within project finance and investment return frameworks.
- Fluency in English required and proficiency in Mandarin is strongly preferred.
