Communication Engineer

Summary:

Synera Renewable Energy (“SRE”) is a leading renewable energy developer in Taiwan, with a pipeline of offshore wind projects across Taiwan and other parts of Asia such as Japan and Korea. 

In the role as Communication Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, procurement, integration, testing, and commissioning of all telecommunications and communications systems required for the offshore wind farm. The role will ensure reliable and secure communication between offshore and onshore assets, supporting operational, safety, security, and control system requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

The position will work closely with SCADA, Electrical, OSS, WTG, Export Cable, Onshore Substation, and Operations teams to ensure a fully integrated communications architecture across the project.

Scope Description:

As a key member of the Synera Renewable Energy team, your role will encompass the following:

• Lead the development and review of the wind farm communications system architecture.
• Define technical requirements and specifications for telecommunications systems.
• Prepare technical specifications and support procurement, bid evaluations, supplier selection, and contract management.
• Review contractor and vendor designs for compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Ensure integration of communication systems across Offshore Substations (OSS), Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), Onshore Substation (ONS), and O&M facilities.
• Coordinate interfaces between communications and other systems like SCADA, cybersecurity, and electrical systems.
• Ensure successful integration of fiber optic networks, industrial Ethernet, radio, 4G/5G, microwave (where applicable), satellite communications, LAN/WAN infrastructure, VoIP, CCTV, access control, and monitoring systems.
• Support implementation of cybersecurity requirements in accordance with IEC 62443, ISO 27001, and project requirements.
• Review installation methodologies, FATs, SATs, integrated testing, commissioning, and handover to Operations.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 8–10 years of experience in telecommunications, industrial communications, SCADA, or control systems.
• Experience on offshore wind, offshore oil & gas, power transmission, or large infrastructure projects.
• Experience through design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning.
