Foundations Fabrication Engineer

 

Role Summary

The Foundations Fabrication Engineer is a senior technical role within the Foundations package, responsible for ensuring that design information is effectively translated into safe, high-quality fabrication execution in fabrication.

The role acts as a key technical interface between the Design Contractor, Employer’s Engineering Team, and fabrication yards, with a focus on fabrication constructability, drawing review, technical query management, and controlled implementation of design changes. The position supports fabrication execution by aligning scope and activities between design and yard ensuring technical clarity across the supply chain.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Fabrication & Technical Support

  • Support fabrication of jackets and pin piles at local and international fabrication yards.
  • Interface with yard engineering, production, quality, and inspection teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure fabrication activities are performed in accordance with specifications, drawings, and employers requirements.

 

Technical Interface & Coordination

  • Act as a technical focal point between the Design Contractor, Employer’s Engineering Team, and fabricators on fabrication-related matters.
  • Coordinate technical clarifications, design queries, and issue resolution impacting fabrication.
  • Ensure technical agreements are clearly documented and correctly implemented in fabrication documentation.

 

Technical Queries & Change Control

  • Manage fabrication-related technical queries from identification through closeout.
  • Maintain clear tracking of queries, responses, approvals, and implementation status.
  • Ensure design changes follow formal change management processes.
  • Identify and escalate uncontrolled or unannounced design changes affecting quality, schedule, or cost.

 

Drawing Review & Constructability

  • Review design and drawing revisions with a fabrication and constructability focus, including weld details, tolerances, member fit-up, interfaces, and assembly practicality.
  • Support verification that workshop drawings reflect the latest approved design and technical resolutions.

 

Quality, HSE & Risk Support

  • Support high standards of quality and HSE performance during fabrication.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating fabrication-related technical risks.

 

Documentation & Traceability

  • Support configuration control and traceability of design changes, technical queries, and drawing revisions.
  • Help ensure outdated or superseded technical information is not used in fabrication execution.

 

 

Education

· M. Sc., B.Sc. or similar level of Degree in Structural, Mechanical, Civil, Naval Architecture, or related discipline, or equivalent fabrication engineering experience.

 

Experience

· Experience in offshore wind foundation fabrication, preferably jacket structures.

· Background in fabrication engineering, design–fabrication interface roles, or technical coordination.

· Experience working with fabrication yards, workshop drawings, and inspection activities.
