Synera Renewable Energy (“SRE”) is a leading renewable energy developer in Taiwan, with a pipeline of offshore wind projects across Taiwan and other parts of Asia such as Japan and Korea. SRE is a portfolio company of a fund managed by Stonepeak, a US-based infrastructure fund with regional headquarter in Hong Kong.
We are seeking a Mechanical and Structural Engineering Manager to join our team in Taiwan to support our Offshore
Substation Package.
Scope Description:
As the Structural and Mechanical Engineering Manager – Offshore Substations, you will:
- Lead and coordinate the structural and mechanical engineering scope for fixed-bottom offshore substations (jacket and topside).
- Oversee third-party design contractors through pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design, ensuring seamless integration of structural and mechanical systems.
- Act as the technical authority across both disciplines, guiding design validation, contractor performance, and quality assurance throughout fabrication, transport, and installation.
- Drive alignment and interface management between internal stakeholders (Electrical, SCADA, O&M, T&I, Cables, Quality, Procurement, HSSE) and external stakeholders (Certifying Bodies, Lenders’ Technical Advisors).
- Manage systems including HVAC, fire & safety, diesel gensets, cranes, fuel systems, and offshore structure integrity.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers across both domains and foster technical excellence within the team.
- Ensure cross-project lessons learned are implemented, promoting continuous improvement and innovation.
- Represent SRE in industry forums, technical committees, and research collaborations.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (dual-discipline background preferred).
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in offshore substation design and execution.
- Demonstrated experience managing EPC contractors and design interfaces across disciplines.
- Strong familiarity with seismic design considerations, marine environments, and offshore wind industry standards.
- Proven leadership capabilities in multi-disciplinary technical environments.
- Fluent in spoken and written English – Mandarin is a plus.
- Willingness to relocate to Taiwan and travel across Asia and Europe for supplier and fabrication site visits.
- Member of a professional engineering body (preferred).
- Effective communicator and team player with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
