O&M Engineer
Offshore wind engineering role | Taiwan market | Development, construction and handover
About the Role
Join a leading offshore wind platform supporting the next phase of Taiwan’s offshore wind growth. This O&M engineering role will help prepare a major offshore wind asset for safe, compliant and efficient operations from development and construction through to handover, taking-over and the start of the warranty and operations phase. Working within the O&M Package and reporting to the O&M Package Manager, you will translate project and OEM requirements into practical engineering deliverables that make the asset maintainable, operable and ready from day one.
This opportunity is particularly well suited to a Taiwan-based engineer with strong technical capability and an interest in construction-to-operations transition. Candidates with offshore wind, offshore energy or comparable heavy-industry experience will also be considered where they can bring practical engineering judgement, structured delivery and a strong operations mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Review designs, drawings and contractor deliverables from an operations and maintenance perspective, covering operability, maintainability, accessibility, reliability and HSE-in-design.
- Develop maintenance strategies, task plans, procedures, work instructions, asset registers, technical master data and spares and tooling requirements.
- Translate OEM and contractor requirements into executable preventive and corrective maintenance plans and support configuration and testing of the CMMS/work management system.
- Prepare technical scopes, specifications and evaluation criteria for O&M contracts and support tender evaluation, clarification and mobilisation.
- Support commissioning, energisation and performance testing, assess technical issues and verify that taking-over and handover criteria are met.
- Manage technical punch-list, defect and handover activities, including documentation review, contractor follow-up and the technical basis for warranty or defect notifications.
- Provide engineering input to OCC, SCADA, condition monitoring, performance reporting, OPEX planning, KPI development and readiness assurance.
- Prepare clear technical assessments, recommendations and progress updates, escalating material risks, deviations and decisions in good time.
About You
- Degree in mechanical, electrical, power, structural, marine or a related engineering discipline, or an equivalent technical qualification and experience.
- 3+ years’ engineering experience in offshore wind or a comparable offshore energy or heavy-industry environment, ideally including construction, commissioning or operational start-up.
- Practical understanding of offshore wind assets and their maintenance, inspection and failure modes.
- Experience developing maintenance strategies, plans, job plans, inspection regimes, technical procedures or work instructions.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, datasheets and test records and produce clear technical review comments.
- Working knowledge of asset registers, tag structures, master data, CMMS/work management systems and SCADA or performance data.
- Structured, analytical and solution-oriented approach, with the ability to progress priorities independently within a defined package structure.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with willingness and fitness to travel to offshore, vessel, manufacturing and construction locations as required.
Why Join?
- Play a practical role in preparing a major offshore wind project for safe and reliable operations.
- Work across design, construction, commissioning and handover with direct exposure to project teams, contractors and operations stakeholders.
- Help shape the maintenance strategy, systems, procedures, technical data and contractor scopes that will support the asset from day one.
- Join a collaborative, international environment that values technical judgement, ownership, continuous improvement and practical delivery.
Desirable Experience
- Taiwan offshore wind experience, local market knowledge and Mandarin capability.
- Experience with RCM, FMEA/FMECA, criticality assessment or reliability and availability modelling.
- Experience implementing CMMS/work management, SCADA or performance-monitoring systems, including master-data build and testing.
- Experience supporting commissioning, performance testing, punch-list close-out, non-conformances and warranty defects.
- Familiarity with relevant standards and certification regimes, including IEC 61400 and ISO 55001 asset-management principles.
- Experience with high-voltage systems, switching and isolation regimes, or data analysis using Excel, Power BI or similar tools.
Language Skills
Fluent English is required, with CEFR Level C1 or equivalent as a minimum. Mandarin capability is highly desirable for local stakeholder engagement.
