Summary:

Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) is a leading offshore wind developer with a portfolio of projects across Taiwan and Asia. We are seeking an experienced OSS Mechanical Engineer to oversee the mechanical systems scope of our offshore substations, from engineering and procurement through fabrication, installation, commissioning and handover.

 

The scope includes HVAC, lifting and handling equipment, diesel generators and fuel systems, firefighting systems, drainage and other mechanical auxiliary systems. Working closely with the OSS Package Manager and electrical, structural, SCADA and operations specialists, you will oversee contractor designs and equipment delivery to ensure safe, reliable and maintainable systems that meet project requirements.

 

Scope Description:

As a key member of the Synera Renewable Energy team, your role will encompass the following:

  • Oversee mechanical engineering activities throughout design, procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, design criteria and supplier proposals, supporting tender evaluations and procurement decisions.
  • Review contractor designs, calculations, equipment layouts and system documentation for compliance with project requirements, applicable standards and certification requirements.
  • Coordinate mechanical interfaces with electrical, structural, SCADA and safety systems, ensuring equipment and services are fully integrated into the OSS design.
  • Embed safety by design, addressing fire risks, ventilation, fuel handling, lifting operations, safe access and maintenance requirements.
  • Monitor contractor engineering and equipment delivery progress, identify risks and support resolution of technical queries, changes and non-conformities.
  • Review inspection and test plans, attend equipment factory acceptance tests and support quality inspections during fabrication and installation.
  • Provide technical oversight during construction and commissioning, verifying system performance, controls and interfaces through site acceptance and integrated testing.
  • Coordinate with operations teams to ensure maintainability, access, spares and training requirements are incorporated into design and delivery.
  • Verify as-built documentation, operating manuals and test records, and support defect resolution and handover to operations.

 

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant qualifications.
  • At least five years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in offshore substations, offshore energy facilities or comparable marine infrastructure.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, lifting and handling equipment, diesel generators, fuel systems, firefighting systems and mechanical auxiliary services.
  • Experience reviewing mechanical designs, specifications, calculations and equipment layouts, including interfaces with electrical and structural disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience working with EPC/EPCI contractors and equipment suppliers across engineering, fabrication and commissioning.
  • Practical experience reviewing inspection and test plans, witnessing factory and site acceptance tests, and resolving technical non-conformities.
  • A strong commitment to HSE, with experience applying safety by design and designing for safe operation and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with applicable offshore mechanical standards, fire safety requirements and certification processes.
  • Strong analytical, communication and coordination skills, with the ability to resolve technical issues and drive actions to completion.
  • Offshore wind or offshore substation experience would be an advantage.
  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken; Mandarin proficiency would be an advantage.
  • Willingness to be based in Taipei and travel to supplier facilities, fabrication yards and offshore project sites as required.
