OSS / ONS Technical Manager
Offshore and onshore substations | Taiwan | Transmission asset operations and maintenance
About the Role
Lead the technical management of the substations that connect offshore wind generation to the grid. Reporting to the O&M Manager, you will define and deliver the O&M strategy for offshore and onshore substation transmission assets, HV/MV/LV electrical equipment, auxiliary systems and associated structures. You will coordinate technical teams and service providers to deliver safe maintenance, resolve defects and strengthen asset reliability through mobilisation and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement OSS/ONS maintenance strategies, procedures and periodic maintenance plans across electrical, auxiliary and structural assets.
- Plan and manage inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and repair activities through technical teams and specialist contractors.
- Coordinate defects, construction snagging and warranty cases, supporting handover and punch-list close-out.
- Manage operational risks and ensure maintenance delivery complies with electrical safety rules, HSE standards, statutory obligations and project requirements.
- Review technical proposals and recommend improvements based on engineering merit, reliability and business-case considerations.
- Develop training plans and confirm the availability and calibration of tools needed for site activities.
- Establish and monitor KPIs, manage monthly and annual budget delivery, and provide technical reporting and analysis.
- Support outage and fault response, emergency coordination, regulatory discussions and interfaces with other technical functions.
About You
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with HV SAP / MV certification.
- Extensive O&M experience in offshore wind, oil and gas or electrical transmission.
- Broad experience managing electrical safety rules and technical teams in safety-critical environments.
- Asset integrity experience covering transmission systems and an understanding of offshore structures, foundations and associated risks.
- Knowledge of relevant technical standards, operational failure modes and asset information systems.
- The ability to link technical issues across turbines, BoP and grid systems with operational and commercial impacts.
- Strong contractor engagement, communication and independent delivery skills, with a structured approach to records and reporting.
Why Join?
- Take technical ownership of critical offshore and onshore substation assets.
- Shape maintenance delivery and team readiness from handover into operations.
- Combine electrical engineering expertise with contractor management and long-term asset improvement.
Desirable Experience
- Offshore EPC or operational start-up experience covering at least two offshore wind projects.
- GWO training and certification in safe systems of work.
- Reliability-centred maintenance, failure mode analysis and ISO 31000 or ISO 55000 experience.
- In-depth understanding of wind farm operating processes and interfaces between turbines, cables, substations and foundations.
Language Skills
Fluent English is required, with CEFR Level C1 as a minimum.
