SCADA Engineer (O&M)

Synera Renewable Energy (“SRE”) is a leading renewable energy developer in Taiwan, with a pipeline of offshore wind projects across Taiwan and other parts of Asia such as Japan and Korea.  SRE is a portfolio company of a fund managed by Stonepeak, a US-based infrastructure fund with regional headquarter in Hong Kong. 

Scope Description:

As a key member of the Synera Renewable Energy team, your role will encompass the following:

• Performance

• Analyzing turbine supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system data and other operating wind farm data
• Summarizing turbine performance, production, and availability metrics for use in energy assessments (OMSA/BOE/TPC)
• Identifying turbine performance issues, estimating energy losses, and performing statistical analyses
• Analyzing operations and maintenance (O&M) cost, availability, reliability, and capacity factor trends by wind farms and across the industry
• Developing new and improving existing models, analysis techniques, and tools (OMSA/BOE/TPC)
• Reviewing the analysis of others and providing constructive feedback
• Reviewing technical reports and communicating results from WTG OEM
• Managing multiple concurrent jobs and tasks
• Ensuring the successful completion of assigned tasks per the agreed upon scope, budget, schedule, and quality

• High Voltage

• Operate, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot facilities infrastructure including HV GIS, MV CGIS, Protection Relays, Transformers, HVAC, UPS, Fire, CCTV, Security system
• Developing the improvement roadmap based upon reliability for facilities infrastructure

• Industrial Control System

• Inspect, maintain, and repair various substations SCADA affiliated system such as servers, network equipment, RTUs, system administration, access control, alarm notification, and Power SCADA management (IEC61850/IEC104/DNP3.0).
• Control, monitor, log, and alarm systems.
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions or cybersecurity issues (IEC 62443) in the SCADA backend.
• Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new controls equipment and systems into substation SCADA infrastructure.

• Network Infrastructure (IT/MIS)

• Implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current Taichung and Miaoli’s O&M office networks
• Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including firewalls, routers, servers, switches, Wireless LAN Controller, DNS, VMware, Storage and DHCP
• Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation and maintenance agreement.
• Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
• Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
• Arranging scheduled upgrades
• Investigating faults in the network
• Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
• Reporting network status and service management (MetMast) to key government (BOE) and fisherman associations

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• Experienced SCADA engineer
• At least 10 years’ experience in implementing SCADA systems for production facilities
• Expert in Siemens WinCC configuration, implementation and user interface
• Expert in set of MODBUS, IED, RTU, SNMP and IEC61850
• Knowledgeable in IT network infrastructure, firewalls, UTM, VPN.
• Proficient English skills - able to communicate in both speaking and writing; fluent Chinese skills is plus.
• Competent with the full Microsoft Office package with an ability to quickly learn how to use new software tools.
• In depth knowledge of the relevant standards and regulations.
