Apply now »Date: Oct 6, 2026
Location: Taiwan
Company: synera
Summary:
Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) is a leading offshore wind developer with a portfolio of projects across Taiwan and Asia. We are seeking an experienced Crossings and Cable Protection Systems Manager to lead the engineering, procurement and delivery of cable crossings and protection systems for export and inter-array cables.
You will be responsible for the safe and effective design and execution of crossings over existing subsea infrastructure, together with cable protection at foundations, offshore substations and locations where burial alone does not provide adequate protection. The scope includes cable protection systems (CPS), crossing structures, mattresses, rock placement and other engineered protection measures.
Working closely with the Subsea Cables T&I Lead, EXP and IAC T&I Managers, Cable Supply Manager and foundations team, you will manage specialist suppliers, contractors and infrastructure owner interfaces to ensure solutions are technically sound, agreed with relevant stakeholders and delivered in line with installation milestones.
Scope Description:
As a key member of the Synera Renewable Energy team, your responsibilities will include:
- Manage the crossings and cable protection scope from design and procurement through manufacturing, installation, verification and handover.
- Develop the scope delivery strategy, technical requirements, budget and schedule, aligned with cable and foundation installation plans.
- Coordinate crossing arrangements and agreements with existing cable and pipeline owners, supported by the commercial, legal and permitting teams.
- Oversee crossing and protection designs, incorporating survey findings, seabed conditions, burial assessments, cable characteristics and infrastructure owner requirements.
- Manage CPS interfaces with cables, foundations and offshore substations, addressing installation loads, cable movement, abrasion, fatigue, scour and long-term performance.
- Lead technical tender evaluations and support supplier selection and contract negotiations; manage supplier and contractor performance, changes and delivery commitments.
- Oversee manufacturing quality, qualification testing and inspections, ensuring protection systems are compatible with cable handling and installation methods.
- Coordinate installation readiness and execution with the EXP and IAC T&I Managers, including seabed preparation, crossing construction, CPS installation, mattresses and rock placement.
- Embed safety by design and ensure compliance with project HSE, environmental, permitting and certification requirements.
- Monitor costs, progress and risks, resolve technical issues and defects, and verify installation against agreed acceptance criteria.
- Manage completion and handover, including as-built surveys, infrastructure owner acceptance where required, and inspection and maintenance requirements.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, marine, offshore or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Substantial experience in subsea cable crossings, cable protection systems or comparable subsea infrastructure protection works.
- Proven experience managing specialist engineering, suppliers and offshore contractors through design, procurement and execution.
- Strong technical understanding of crossing design, CPS, mattresses, rock placement, scour protection and cable–seabed interaction.
- Understanding of cable mechanical limits and protection system performance, including bending, fatigue, abrasion, stability and installation loads.
- Experience coordinating crossing requirements and technical approvals with existing cable or pipeline owners.
- Practical experience reviewing engineering analyses, qualification tests, manufacturing documentation and offshore installation procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage contracts, budgets, schedules, risks and interfaces across multiple work scopes.
- Familiarity with applicable subsea engineering standards, certification requirements and environmental constraints.
- A strong commitment to HSE, with experience embedding safety by design and managing offshore installation risks.
- Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve interfaces and drive decisions across suppliers, contractors and infrastructure owners.
- Offshore wind experience would be an advantage; relevant subsea pipeline, umbilical or oil and gas experience would also be considered.
- Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken; Mandarin proficiency would be an advantage.
- Willingness to be based in Taipei and travel to supplier facilities, ports and offshore project sites as required.
