WTG Technical Manager
Wind turbine technical performance | Taiwan | Reliability, yield and asset integrity
About the Role
Help offshore wind turbines deliver their production and lifetime targets. Reporting to the O&M Manager, you will lead the technical management of the WTG scope, challenge service-provider performance and turn operating data and field experience into reliability improvements. From construction handover and defect resolution to troubleshooting, retrofits and maintenance optimisation, you will connect technical decisions with safe operations and reduced energy losses.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage WTG technical performance and long-term integrity, implementing the asset management policy, strategy and plans for the turbine package.
- Review service-provider performance, track failures and downtime attribution, and drive prioritised improvements to reduce yield losses.
- Lead root cause and trend analysis, fault forecasting and technical escalation, working with technicians and specialist back-office teams.
- Improve troubleshooting guides, task lists and preventive maintenance, using offshore observations and quality checks to strengthen execution.
- Review and support acceptance of design modifications, software releases, retrofits and test programmes, assessing technical risks and system interfaces.
- Coordinate WTG handover documentation, non-conformities, construction punch-list close-out and technical defect resolution.
- Provide technical input to planning, maintenance optimisation and contractor proposals, including walk-downs after major component exchanges and annual service.
- Support emergency response and resolution of technical HSE concerns; undertake any turbine remote operations only within documented competency, authorisation and approved procedures.
About You
- Extensive WTG experience, gained in a comparable technical role, as a wind turbine technician or through equivalent experience.
- A technical, electrical, engineering or mechanical background, such as an HNC, apprenticeship qualification or equivalent.
- Extensive offshore wind O&M experience and a practical understanding of turbine systems and maintenance.
- The ability to connect turbine, BoP and grid issues with production losses and commercial impacts.
- Confidence working with technical specifications, quality standards, regulatory requirements and safety-critical operating practices.
- Strong communication, contractor engagement and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to technical records, data and reporting.
Why Join?
- Make a direct contribution to turbine reliability, energy production and lifetime performance.
- Translate hands-on turbine expertise into technical leadership and measurable improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with site teams, service providers and technical specialists across offshore wind operations.
Desirable Experience
- Field experience and full-level training on the site-specific turbine type.
- Reliability-centred maintenance and failure mode, effects and criticality analysis.
- Experience with ISO 31000 risk management and ISO 55000 asset management approaches.
- In-depth understanding of offshore wind operational processes and a proactive approach to technical improvement.
Language Skills
Fluent English is required, with CEFR Level C1 as a minimum.
